About Skylar

I was born a surprise. My mother never fathomed she’d be having
twins, but I’m thankful I got to come along for the ride. As a child
growing up in North Carolina, I learned the richness of storytelling.
My grandmother is a natural and never fails to indulge in her
favorite past time. I can’t say I’m as vocal as she or my mother are,
but I like to think I funnel that talent into my writing.

I’ve always been creative in some way, whether I was drawing,
writing or creating plays with my sister complete with sound effects.
Through the years I cultivated my talents and made the tough
decision to pursue Art as my college major. I aspired to become the
next Elaine Duillo so I could make beautiful covers, even if my
professors didn’t think highly of that goal. During long hours in the
studio I had plenty of time to plot and dream of the future.
Unfortunately, I also needed enough credit hours to graduate.

That’s when I decided to minor in English. That way I could indulge
in class after class about writers and read their works. I can’t say it
turned out to be totally fun, but it led me to my first professional
Creative Writing class. I’d written when the mood hit plenty of
times, since I think most readers at one time or another also become
authors of poetry or prose. Now strict deadlines meant I had to make
my work count or else fail miserably. Thankfully I passed with flying
colors, even though my usually romantic themes were frowned
upon.

I wrote my first novel, Double Entendré, to prove to myself I could
do it, not to mention because I’d gotten tired of reading the same
plots everywhere I turned. Now I’ve finished my tenth manuscript
and am back in the hunt to find a publisher willing to print my
diligent efforts that aren’t always “mainstream” material. To pay the
bills, which everyone can relate to, I’m an E-Manual Technician
skilled in eBook creation. Plus I've trained in graphic design, so I can
pinpoint minute differences between papers and fonts. In my down
time, I still dream big and then strive to make my fantasies reality.

Where my blog resides (for now)!
Sunday - 1.4.09
Resolve It: Got something you need to get off your chest? Then now
is the time to air that laundry so you have no regrets from 2008. Sit
your partner down in private or public, depending on your topic, and
tell him/her how you feel. Who knows, being openly honest may
lead to an in-depth discussion you never thought you'd have. Sure it
might go bad, but you never know unless you breach those murky
waters. Either way it will help you move forward into a more loving
relationship for 2009!

Sunday - 1.11.09
Bowl Him Over: Got a bowling alley in town? Why not rack up some
pins and challenge your guy to a game? If you'd rather be teammates
double date with a pair of friends. You can create your own
catchphrase for strikes, victory dances for a job well done or a
special shimmy for gutter balls! What you decide to wear is optional,
just make sure you can move and look good from behind. No matter
how you decide to play things, make sure no one in your pair is a
loser!

Sunday - 1.18.09
How Does She Know: It's a simple question. How does your
significant other know that you love her? Do you tell her by word
of mouth or through notes. Do you set aside time just for her? Or
perhaps you have a standing date night where you and she devise
activity lists to have fun together. Or perhaps you shower her with
trinkets or chocolate. However you show your love, make sure she
knows all those things are how you show your affection. That way
you can cement your relationship and reap the benefits.

Sunday - 1.25.09
Take Care: It's that season...for flu bugs, head colds and perhaps icy
mishaps. So if you're the one who's fit as a fiddle, show your
significant other some real compassion. I know he might whine
like a 2 year old, and she might fuss like a prima dona, but be kind.
You never know when your roles will be switched and you'll need a
hand or someone to chauffeur you around in a wheelchair. So be
gracious with your time and attention and let your loved one know
you'll take care of him/her in sickness and health!

Sunday - 2.1.09
Radio Romance: Does your sweetie have a favorite tune that cheers
him/her up, a song that reminds him/her of your first meeting or
even a diddy that gets him/her revved up for bedroom action? Then
why not call your local radio station and request the song? Most
deejays are happy to have something to talk about and a change from
the regular shift. So be ready to give a shout out to the one you love...
and be prepared for the aftermath of your actions!

Sunday - 2.8.09
Chocolate Cuddles: Never underestimate the power of chocolate!
Whether you're snuggling under a blanket with your significant
other, or merely feeding him/her blocks of dark chocolate...set the
scene with decadence. A couple bucks can go a long way! If your
honey's watching their waistline, indulge on special occassions...or
splurge when they really need the boost

Sunday - 3.1.09
From Extraordinary to Ordinary: Make something you think is
impossible in your relationship possible. Give your partner the extra
time they need, try something new to spice up your romance, feed
your shared fantasies, enrich your bond with a sentimental moment,
but above all make sure your partner knows how you feel. Express
your emotions for your love and the world to see (without 911 being
called)!

Sunday - 3.8.09
All About You Day: Sometimes we get so caught up in what we have
to get done that we forget about the second half in our partnerships.
So why not choose one day or night a week and make sure to listen to
what your significant other has to say or do an activity of their
choosing. And don't be so quick to judge. Chances are you'll have fun
breaking your schedule and taking time out to enjoy life with the one
you love!

Sunday - 3.22.09
A Zoo See: Take a day out of your normal routine to visit your local
zoo. Not only will you destress, but you also might learn a
thing or
two. Whether you simply stroll hand in hand from exhibit
to exhibit
or you act out some of the animals antics, you're sure to
have a ball.
Just remember that you're not on display and don't get
too close to
the animal action!
